A conversation with Kate Northrup that every mother entrepreneur needs to hear.
Let me take you behind the scenes for a moment.
I’ve had seven-figure years in business. I’ve hit major milestones. I’ve seen Stripe notifications that would make my 22-year-old self faint.
And I’ve still had moments where I’ve sat there asking myself…
“Where the hell did all that money go?”
“Why doesn’t this feel like enough?”
“Shouldn’t I feel safe by now?”
Turns out? Making good money and being good with money are two very different skill sets.
And this week on The Millionaire Mother Podcast, I got to sit down with one of my favorite humans (and former mentor of mine), Kate Northrup, to talk about exactly why that difference matters—especially if you’re a mother building wealth while raising tiny humans.
This isn’t your typical money conversation.
If you know Kate, you know she’s not here to hand you a budget spreadsheet and send you on your way.
She’s here to change how you feel in your body when you interact with money.
She’s here to help you move out of financial survival mode and into deep, grounded, nervous-system-safe havingness.
This episode? It’s part science, part soul, and absolutely dripping with the kind of wisdom that can change the way you relate to money forever.
Here’s what we unpacked:
➤ Why you can be earning “good money” and still feel broke
Kate shared how, even while making multi-6 and 7-figures, she still felt like she was on the hamster wheel. Until she realized: dopamine (wanting more) isn’t the same as serotonin and oxytocin (having enough).
When we chase income from dysregulation, we’re always grasping.
When we learn to feel safe with money, we shift into actually being able to hold and enjoy it.
➤ The role your nervous system plays in your relationship with money
One of my favorite moments in this conversation was when Kate talked about how she used to rely on financial stress as her primary fuel source.
Let that land. 👀
Not strategy. Not launches.
Stress.
She ran a 90-day experiment where she refused to create from that “must hustle to survive” energy. She focused instead on regulating her nervous system and letting her business be built from calm.
The result?
She met all her financial goals—without stress as the driver. And since then? Her business has tripled.
➤ How moms, especially, need a new relationship with “enoughness”
As mother entrepreneurs, we’re often holding a thousand things. Kids. Clients. Calendars. Chaos.
And when we’re operating from depletion, the “more is more” messaging of the online world just adds fuel to the burnout fire.
But when we build our wealth from a place of being regulated and rooted, we raise resourced families. We lead sustainable businesses. We hold the money we’re making—without leaking it energetically or financially.
Your money mindset needs more than mantras.
It needs nervous system rewiring.
It needs financial systems that actually support you.
And it needs teachers like Kate, who walk the walk and teach from lived experience.
